Our first Geneon Rescue and CLANNAD Season 2 announced

Apparently Media Blasters has “rescued” the anime series Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (or Seirei no Moribito), which was previously held by Geneon.  This is, I believe, the first confirmed Geneon license rescue - and hopefully the first of many.

CLANNADAlso, to little surprise, Kyoto Animation announced a CLANNAD After Story TV series which will continue the story from the CLANNAD TV series which just concluded.   No word on when this series would air.  Presumably after Haruhi 2, though I would think.

Doujin Work licensed? Plus Genshiken 2

Doujin WorkAnime News Network reports that in an AnimeonDVD forum discussion, Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella announced that they would license Genshiken 2 and seemed to indicate that they had licensed Doujin Work - and not just for a subtitle-only release but for a full dub as well.

Genshiken 2 certainly isn’t a surprise, given that Media Blasters has already released the first Genshiken series and has already licensed the Genshiken OVA and Kujibiki Unbalance.

Genshiken 2However, for the first license to come out of the Summer 2007 season (that I can think of) to be for Doujin Work, well, let’s just say that Doujin Work was about the last series I expected to be licensed out of that group, considering it’s length (12 14-minute episodes), it’s subject matter (doujin), and it’s quality (eh, could be better).

In any case, I guess that ends my watching Genshiken 2 on the side now that it’s licensed, and I guess it depends how much Doujin Work will be selling for before I know whether I’d buy it or not.

Kashimasi ~Girl Meets Girl~ Licenced by Media Blasters

According to Anime on DVD via Anime News Network.

Kashimashi: Girl Meets GirlI had three “in Japan” series that I’ve been keeping an eye on for licensing information (Haruhi Suzumiya and I”s Pure being the other two) and, to be frank, I was expecting Kasimasi to be the last one of the three licenced.

The media representative on the Anime on DVD forums said to expect it in March.

This is another series I’m looking forward to buying.
