The dreamy bells return, but this time Yuji isn’t the only one trapped, while the real Denizen behind putting Yuji to sleep shows herself. Also, Shana and Yuji get a new transfer student in their class and it’s…it’s WHO!?

It’s time for my first ever blogging of a sequel series - Shakugan no Shana II (also known as Shakugan no Shana Second). I rented the first series from netflix (and recently bought the entire series in the mad rush to buy Geneon’s DVDs before they all run out) and loved it, and I have the fortune of being able to catch it’s sequel as it’s aired in Japan. Come along and enjoy some more Flame Haze action.

Shakugan no Shana: The Movie is a retelling of the first part of the first season of the TV series, with some things added in, taken out, and redone. If you want to catchup on the first part of the series, or want something to tide you over until the 2nd season airs (which happened today) or if you want to have a quick way to see what all the fuss is about, the movie is a good place to start.

I have decided on a slate for Fall 2007 blogging slate, and it’s a rather front-heavy slate, but I hope I can pull it off. So, without further ado, the series which I will be blogging in the Fall:
So far, all of these series have groups subbing them, except Shana II (amazingly enough) according to the Fansub PukiWiki.
Blue Drop, also only has one group listed as subbing it, so hopefully they’ll do a good job getting the episodes out in a timely fashion. Before, I had a fear that Geneon might pick up Shana II before it was finished, but with the terrible trouble they’ve been having recently, I think such a prospect is actually not all that likely now, though they still have (presumably) 26 weeks to straighten that out. I still haven’t seen how long Shana II is actually supposed to be, though.
Assuming Shana II is a full season, I’ll have two full-season series: Shana II and CLANNAD, as well as 3 half seasons - Blue Drop, ef, and Shion no Ō - with Blue Drop being 13 episodes and the other two series 12.
In any case, to get more details about each series, click “read more.” Read More
It’s that time again: It’s time to look at what anime is airing in the Fall 2007 season. I’m listing these in alphabetical order.
There are 7 levels of ratings that I’ll give a show:
This time around I’m also just going to leave out sequels to series that I haven’t seen yet. I’m not going to watch a sequel before the original, so there isn’t even any point in my writing about it. Also, thanks to PukiWiki for keeping a great list of upcoming shows. Oh yeah, and thanks to THAT Anime Blog for reminding me to do this lol.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…here we go!

Assuming there are no breaks in the airing of Nagasarete Airantou (which can happen. Seto no Hanayome took a week off this past week), it should finish airing September 26th.
The next project I’ll be taking on is School Days which, from what I’ve seen online, is a 13 episode series with an expected 3-OVA followup (or something). This series, again if there are no breaks, should air between July 3 - September 25th.
The project after that which I’ll start on will be Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 2. Assuming this series is aired like the first one, it will air as 2 pairs of 8 half-episodes, once every 2 months (the first double-digit Saturday date). That means it would air August 11th, October 13th, December 15th, and February 16, 2008 - but this is just an assumption.
After that, there are several projects I’m looking forward to. One is Clannad, which is another Key visual novel adaptation. If I can hack through the Japanese well enough, it looks like they’ll announce when this will start airing in August. Most likely it will be a late fall 2007 or winter 2008 start.
Another series I’m looking forward to covering is Shakugan no Shana II. Again, no definite airdate on this either, though ANN says October 2007.
I don’t see anything on the immediate horizon which I’m just really looking forward to seeing at this point, though a few other series may catch my eye between now and then.
I’m trying to fill up places in the week with new sections in this blog, and one of the ideas I came up with is a section called “What I want to see.” This is just an anime or manga that I haven’t seen or read yet that I am interested in, and why I’m interested in it.
The inaugural post in this section is for: Shakugan no Shana.
One of the good things about doing an anime blog, especially the new releases part, is that I get to see what is coming out on DVD, and since I usually look up the information about the anime on ANN, I often see what type of scores it is getting on there.
Shakugan no Shana is one I noticed immediately. It’s unusual to see a series just being released in the United States which has several hundred ratings on ANN, and most of them good as well (all the mean scores are in the “Very Good” range).
The description on ANN also seemed interesting, with the first line to pull you right in: “Sakai Yuuji, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead.” The art of the series also appears to be rather appealing.
Whenever I get this positive of a feeling about a series just reading around about it, it typically turns out to be a series that I end up really enjoying. As a result, this series is floating towards the top of my viewing queue.
