Well, I was hoping I could get my review for episode 7 of this series out before this announcement, but oh well. In any case, just as the hint yesterday suggested, Funimation has licensed Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino- and will release it in a single 13-episode set sometime in 2009.
As a result, I’m suspending my episode reviews for this series, as I quit downloading series once they’re licensed, which is a shame as I only got to see half the series subbed, so I’ll have to wait until 2009 to see how it finishes as well.
This series seemed to have a good storyline like the first, but the animation change from the first series just seemed to overshadow just about everything else on the series. Hopefully that will get improved at least a little on the DVD release (though I seem to doubt it).
It’s (finally!) episode 6, and Padania continues to attempt to disrupt the construction of the Straight of Messina Bridge, this time by attempting to kidnap the chairwoman who heads the project. Also, Henrietta and Rico have their first fight.
It’s episode 5, and Marco’s old flame Patricia gets caught up with an old acquaintance of her’s, Leo, who is investigating the truth behind the Social Welfare Agency. Will Marco be able to keep his secret from Patricia, while Leo has his own motivation for finding out about the Agency.
It’s episode 4, and we get to see Angelica in action for the first time since the end of the 1st series. However, she’s still treated with kid-gloves as no one is sure whether she is really read to be back. Meanwhile, it’s just a normal day for Bruno, the Five Republics clean-up man. That is until he runs into Rico.
And the anime credits feature of the blog rises from the dead once again! We’ll see how long it stays there this time. I also replaced deleted vidoes and added some better quality ones for some of the past credits that I’ve posted as well.
In any case, despite what I think of the overall animation of the new series, I really like the new Gunslinger Girl opening. Not as good as The Light Before We Land, but still good:
It’s episode 3, and Pinocchio finally gets to meet his first Gunslinger Girl: Triela. Surely he can’t beat these indestructible cyborg girls, right? Right?
It’s episode 2, and we have a Gunslinger Girls without many gunslinging girls in it. This time, nearly the entire focus is on their new nemesis-to-be, the boy assassin known as Pinocchio. We also say “welcome back” to a pair of old friends from the first series, as well as the return of Angelica.
Welcome to the only new series I’m blogging from the Winter season: Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino. I greatly enjoyed the first Gunslinger Girl series, so I have pretty high hopes for this one. We’ll see how this one turns out.
I noticed that quite a bit has changed between the first and second Gunslinger Girl series. The series has undergone a change, both in animation style and voice actors used. While I can’t really demonstrate a difference in voice actors, I can show the difference between character Designs (you can click on each picture for a bigger version too):
It’s that time again: It’s time to look at what anime is airing in the Winter 2008 season. I’m listing these in alphabetical order.
There are 6 levels of ratings that I’ll give a show this season:
Will definitely blog it
Will definitely watch it
May watch it
May watch it if I hear good things about it
Probably Won’t Watch it
Won’t watch it
I won’t include a “may blog it” category this time because I already know what I’m going to blog in this season.
As usual, I’m also going to leave out sequels to series that I haven’t seen yet, as well as anything that seems to obviously be a children’s show. As usual, thanks to the Fansub Wiki for keeping a great list of upcoming shows.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…here we go!
