Candy Boy - Episode 2

It’s Candy Boy episode 2, and it’s almost time for Christmas, which means it’s time for Yuki and Kana to decide what gift they want to buy for each other…

  • Yuki remembers back to a time when she and Kana were little when Kana starts balling…because their boxed lunches were different. Kana tells Yuki not to tell anyone about that, but Yuki says she will if Kana gets her some sort of pillow for Christmas. Kana says that she thinks something for both of them would be nice, but Yuki says anything will be fine.
  • While the sisters are eating lunch outside, Sakuya quite obviously starts filming them. When Kana asks her what she’s doing, Sakuya give Kana an invitation to a Christmas party. However, the sisters have to decline since it’s being held on the day that they’re going home at the end of the school semester.
  • As the pair walk around after school, they pass a new dorm for the school which is currently under construction. However, upon seeing the sign for the construction company building it, Kana realizes that Sakuya’s father’s company is the one building it.
  • The next day, Yuki and Kana go out to buy each other Christmas gifts. At first they try to do it separately, but find themselves looking at things for themselves more than gifts for the other. As a result, the pair decide to shop for their gifts together.
  • In the end, Kana finds a pair of earrings with their birthstone that she likes, but the pair doesn’t have enough money to buy it. Kana then decides to use the money for the train trip back home as well, over Yuki’s pleads to do otherwise.
  • The next day, the pair try to figure out what to do when Sakuya shows up saying that she read Yuki’s blog post on the topic and shows up with three airplane tickets…

Well, this series seems to be much slower paced that I was kind of expecting. Basically in this episode we learn that Kana and Yuki used to always get the same thing as presents when they were younger, but then that stopped when they got older, and Kana suddenly has a fit of nostalgia over it.

The series still stays pretty ambiguous about Yuki and Kana’s relationship. They say things like they love each other the most, and do things even most twins probably don’t do such as sleep together and hold hands all the time. On the other hand, their relationship doesn’t seem to be particularly romantic either, so I’m not totally sure what’s up.

In any case, I’m sure nothing good (for Kana) can come from these 3 plane tickets.

I am immensely enjoying the fact that this series has such a gentle pace. This is the best yuri slice of life since Aria.
What I am not enjoying is the 4 weeks of waiting between episodes.
