- Chiko and company arrive at the island on the ship. In the meantime, Ken starts beating up a guy, asking him where they got the jewel.
- On their way up to a house on the island, Chiko and company’s guide tells them that it is rumored that the island was used to conduct secret experiments during the war, and that there are bases left over on the island from it. In the meantime, Chiko sees Ken walking down their path, but givers Chiko a subtle signal not to say anything.
- Suddenly a worker on the film funs to the guide and says that the producer, the man Ken was beating on earlier, has been killed and that the jewel is missing. Of course, Chiko’s aunt sees a murderer on the lose on the island as a perfect chance to off Chiko.
- As Chiko stares outside, she suddenly sees a light and figures out it’s a signal from Ken. She goes out to see him, but Ken yells at her, asking where Twenty Faces is, thinking that he called her to the island using the jewel. She tells Ken that she’s looking for Twenty Faces as well, but Ken doesn’t seem to want to listen and walks off.
- That night, after everyone is asleep, Chiko decides to go out and investigate what’s going on. She goes back to where she met Ken hoping to follow where he went, but his footsteps have been washed away. She then sees light reflecting off the jewel in the forest, so she follows it to the old abandoned base on the island.
- She enters what is left of the base where she meets a girl wearing the jewel. The woman explains that two of the jewels existed: Twenty Faces had one and she had the other. However, she lost it along the way, but finally got it back - after killing the producer of the movie.
- The woman tries killing Chiko, but Chiko fights back, but finds that the woman is unnaturally flexible, stealthy, and strong. She ends up throwing Chiko onto a dissection table - a table which, the woman tells Chiko, she had died herself before.
- However, before the woman can do anything, Ken hits her with a knife. Ken fights the woman, but she ends up stabbing him with a knife by detaching her hand and shooting Ken with it, knife in hand. Chiko then lures he woman into a trap, where she ends up hanging from the ceiling with chains wrapped around her legs. However, the woman then suddenly turns into a mannequin.
- As Chiko watches the island as the boat she’s on sails away, her aunt decides that this would be a perfect chance to push her overboard. However, just as Chiko’s aunt gets there, Chiko turns around, showing her aunt that she can’t be beaten that easily…
Well, this series keeps taking a weirder and weirder turn. I guess I’ll have to see how all of this turns out before I know for sure how much I like what this series is turning into, but I do kind of like how the series was in the first 6 episodes or so vs. the past 4 episodes.
In any case, this episode we meet some sort of undead person who can turn into a doll or whatever. I’m assuming that it’s some sort of consciousness that can move around, and I’m assuming it has something to do with the research that went on at the island (is this linked to the research from before as well?) I think it’s pretty obvious that Twenty Faces is linked to all of this somehow, but how, I don’t know. Was he a victim of these experiments? Does he want to make sure they never happen again? Or will we be shocked and find out that he’s actually the one who conducted them to begin with (and he has since tried to redeem himself). Unraveling that mystery may be the most interesting thing we’ll find out in this series.
In any case, Chiko knows Ken is OK, though I’m not sure Ken fully accepts what Chiko is saying about Twenty Faces quite yet. I’m guessing he will eventually and will probably help Chiko out during her quest, though probably more from the shadows is my guess.
Next episode marks the halfway point in this series, by the way.
