Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino - Episode 04

It’s episode 4, and we get to see Angelica in action for the first time since the end of the 1st series. However, she’s still treated with kid-gloves as no one is sure whether she is really read to be back. Meanwhile, it’s just a normal day for Bruno, the Five Republics clean-up man. That is until he runs into Rico.

The highlights of this episode:

  • A man named Vinci comes to pick up Bruno, one of Cristiano’s men, for “work.,” in this case to dispose of a body. Along the way Vinci asks Bruno why he’s in this line of work, and Bruno just tells him that he’s gotta put food on the table somehow.
  • Marco, Jean, Rico, and the new and improved Angelica ride on a train on their next mission, where we learn that Angelica is still in a wait-and-see period and is addicted to some sort of pill.
  • Once in Milan, Marco and Angelica go to see one of Marco’s old buddies in the Milan police force for information about Pinocchio, but Marco’s police buddy doesn’t seem to have any information for him.
  • Meanwhile, Olga and (mostly) Priscilla have come up to Milan on their free time to check to see how Angelica is doing, but Marco runs into them and uses them to get away from some corrupt police officers sent to tail him. Marco also give’s Angelica’s gun case to Priscilla so that Angelica can only “observe.”
  • Marco finds a couple of Five Republic bottom feeders and “convinces” them to give him some information. Meanwhile, Angelica panics about being unarmed and finds a knife on the ground and is about to pick it up when Marco notices and tells her to stop.
  • Marco and Olga then hit a nearby apartment based on the information the terrorist thugs gave him. While Marco and Olga check the place out, Angelica starts hyperventilating and grabs the arm Priscilla is holding her case in, grasping harder and harder, actually breaking her arm with her grip until Marco comes back and pushes Angelica away. On Priscilla’s pleading, Marco doesn’t tell Jean what Angelica did and it’s decided that Angelica can have her gun back for the next mission.
  • The terrorist’s thug boss ends up being Bruno, who wasn’t at the apartment and the agency apparently has gathered enough information at this apartment to find him. The end up cornering Bruno’s car and Angelica tries shooting the car, but it has bullet-proof glass. However, Rico kills Vinci as he tries to fire at her out the window.
  • Afterwards, Angelica apologizes to Marco for not being able to kill anyone, but Marco tells her that she did a great job, and that there isn’t much one can do against a bullet-proof car. This cheers up Angelica greatly.

So Angelica is back, but not without problems (and once again, what’s up with the changed hair color? Angelica goes from black to brown while Marco goes from black to blond). It seems Angelica is addicted to the conditioning drug, and I have a feeling that will come back later on.

It’s obvious that the agency’s main focus is finding Pinocchio as they’re willing to work their way form the bottom peons up to find information about him. I did notice, though, that Triela was nowhere to be found in this episode. Perhaps she’s still recovering from what happened in the last episode?

Overall I thought this was a pretty decent episode for both re-introducing Angelica and for continuing the storyline with Pinocchio. It’s only a matter of time before we get another confrontation now that they’ve captured someone who probably actually knows where Pinocchio is. Also, I greatly enjoyed Rico doing some serious ass-kicking in this episode, something which I don’t think we’ve really seen much of yet.

Rico became all so cheerful in season 2, don’t you think? hehe. cute.

Angelica’s still as cute as EVER! LOL! but Marco just don’t show some affection to her… for him she’s just a mechanical (definitely) girl… not unlike Giuseppe.

    oh well… =/

next, episode 5. i’ll await for that. :D
