It’s episode 7, and Renji seems to be having weird thoughts after reading Chihiro’s story about the last girl in the world. Is he confusing the girl in the story with Chihiro in his mind? Also, Miyako gets stood up by Hiro on her date. Will she be mad, forgiving, or desperate? That may depend on her past and the past of her family.

The highlights of this episode:
- Renji meets up with Chihiro in the library and reads the story to the point that Chihiro has written it, which is about 30% of the way through. Chihiro’s story is about the last girl in the world, as she said it would be. Renji thinks the girl is cute, but this makes Chihiro feel like she has to rewrite it since she doesn’t think the girl should be cute.
- The next day, again at the library, Renji muses over what he should put on his career interest survey, and Chihiro suggests that Renji put down whatever he wants to do. However, Renji says that’s the problem: he doesn’t know what he wants to do.
- Chihiro continues writing her story, this time writing about how the girl made a painting of a boy. She and Renji discuss how to end the story: whether to have the girl to into the painting with the boy or have the boy come out of the painting.
- However, something seems to be bothering Renji. He doesn’t feel like he’s helping Chihiro at all, and when Chihiro asks if he wants to kiss, he hesitates, seemingly using the description of the girl in Chihiro’s story and mentally applying them to Chihiro herself. He tells Chihiro “it’s not like that” and Chihiro runs away. Renji begs out to her not to write what he just said down.
- Miyako gets ready for her date with Hiro, but remembers back on her childhood when she was forgotten by her parents when the two of them started fighting with each other. Miyako feels like she’s been living “in a world without sound” but hopes to have found it again by meeting Hiro.
- However, after Hiro goes to see Kei as seen in the last episode and having left his cell phone at home, Miyako starts calling Hiro to see why he’s late to their date. At first, Miyako is angry that he’s late, then conciliatory, asking if he got lost, then desperate, begging him not to forget her.
- After Hiro gets to his apartment with Kei, he leaves to get something to eat. Kei sees his cellphone full with Miyako’s voice mails (apparently 99 of them. She beats Kotonoha out by a mile), and out of her fighting spirit against Miyako, deletes them all.

I think I described this series before as the anime about people with issues, and Miyako is now a fully fledged member of the “people with problems” club as she has a deep psychological fear of being forgotten, and is desperate to be with Hiro. This problem is so bad that she panics even after one stood up date and Hiro not answering his cell.
Kei also shows her bitchy side by deleting all of Miyako’s voice mails as well, but I guess as they say, all’s fair in love and war.
On the Renji/Chihiro side, I really wonder what’s up with Renji. I couldn’t tell that anything in particular caused a change in his attitude other than reading Chihiro’s story, and while there is a possible resemblance between Chihiro and the girl in her story, I didn’t think it was that dramatic to cause the confusion Renji is going through. I guess we’ll find more out about that soon.

I’m not sure if I’ve seen the raw for episode 8 or not yet. I dont seem to recall it. Oh well, I’ll see it soon enough when I do my review of it (hopefully sooner rather than later).
