It’s episode 6, and are we about to have a rumble in the jungle between Kei and Miyako? Also, while Hiro seems oblivious to Kei and Miyako’s growing rivalry, does he unconsciously show his preference for which girl he prefers? Also, Chihiro gets to go somewhere she’s never been to before.

The highlights of this episode:
- This episode starts off with a bang with Kei telling Miyako “I will wipe you out”
- Kyosuke shows up at Hiro’s place and asks him for a favor. We jump ahead to after Kyosuke asks Kei out from last episode, and Kei slapping both boys for “making fun of her.” Kyosuke then asks Kei to be in a movie he wishes to make, but she declines. In the process, Hiro and Kyosuke get into an argument over whether one needs a “vision” in order to successfully make a good work or not (Hiro thinks so, Kyosuke doesn’t.)
- While Hiro is walking Kei home, he warns Kei against being Kyosuke’s movie since he’s a womanizer. Kei then asks Hiro if she’s being annoying to him by nagging on him all the time, but he denies that this is the case.
- Kei invites Hiro to watch her next basketball match, saying she has something important to tell him if she wins.
- Renji runs into Himura in the church, and Himura ultimately warns him again not to get too involved with Chihiro.
- Chihiro starts writing her story, writing a part about the last girl in the world drawing paintings of the world. However, Chihiro says it’s difficult to write about things she’s unknowledgeable about, so Renji decides to take her to the only library in town: the one at school
- Kei confronts Miyako at some railroad tracks, telling Miyako how, with her help, Hiro go into drawing manga. Kei then tells Miyako that she doesn’t think Hiro, who is trying to do his best, would like a girl who is doing “nothing at all.” Miyako astutely notes that this must be why Kei decided to start playing basketball.
- Kei then issues the “I will never lose to you” challenge, and on top of that, Kei tells Miyako that she will wipe her out from Hiro’s heart completely. Miyako, however, instead of responding strongly, appears terrifying of “disappearing” again.
- Renji borrows a school uniform from Kuze (whom Renji ponders why he has one) for Chihiro to wear so they can visit the school library.
- In attempt to get a jump on Kei, Miyako decides to start brining boxed lunches for Hiro to eat. Then, against Hiro’s initial refusal, Miyako asks Hiro out on a date for the same time of Kei’s basketball game
- Kyosuke tapes Kei playing her game when Kei trips and hurts her knee. Hiro ends up running in to see how Kei is doing, standing up Miyako on their date. Hiro ends up carrying Kei home, saying that checking up on her was more important than his date (and noting he dropped his cell. I believe this will be important for the next episode).

Obviously the biggest part of this episode was the “rawr rawr hiss hiss” scene between Kei and Miyako. Kei seems to be taking it amazingly easy until her basketball game while Miyako tries to take the initiative first, and tries to pre-preempt Hiro going to Kei’s game by asking him out for a date at the same time. Now we’ll just have to see how Miyako reacts to Hiro standing her up, especially given her new found fear of being “disappeared from his heart” by Kei.
In the other relationship, I couldn’t tell a lot happened, other than perhaps further foreshadowing of not-so-easy times for Renji, and Chihiro being able to go to the school library for the first time.
Meanwhile, Kyosuke seems like a perplexing character to me. I can’t seem to fully figure him out, though some of that could be that he can’t really figure himself out yet. I assume he’s taping Kei because he has some sort of crush on her, but I’m not sure how he ultimately plans to act on it.
