It’s episode 6 of Blue Drop. Everyone has to take exams before summer break, and if you fail, you don’t get to go home. Mari won’t have any problems passing exams, right? Speaking of Mari, she seems to be getting rather close to Sugawara, but who is Sugawara, really? Also, Hagino must go into battle once again with the Blue.

The highlights of this episode:

• Due to the falling grades of the students in the school, Maiyama decides to give everyone exams right before summer vacation, with the threat that the person who scores the lowest will have to stay at the school during vacation.
• Mari gets completely destroyed by her Chemistry exam due to never having been taught the subject while being home schooled and gets a 5 (yes, a 5) and has to retake it. Sugawara-sensei decides that she’ll tutor Mari so that she’ll be able to do well on the retake exam.
• Back on the Novaal, Master Commander Sebarill decides to have both ship 3, the Erbell, and ship 4, the Sebell, attack the Blue simultaneously, while Azanael (who’s now out of the dog house) goes on a mission to personally capture Mari. Meanwhile, the Novaal also gives the Blue an order to disarm.
• Over the course of her tutoring, Mari appears to get increasingly flustered around and attached to Sugawara-sensei. Mari eventually asks Sugawara-sensei whether she can go to a festival being held nearby with her if she passes her exam.
• The next day, Mari is waiting to take her exams when Akane, Michiko, and Hiroko show up ready to go to the festival, and Mari decides to run and ask Sugawara-sensei if the five of them can go together. However, just before Mari enters Sugawara’s personal office, she overhears her talking with another woman about how she’s been observing her since she’s an important witness to “the incident.” In response, Mari ends up smashing the chemistry room and runs away.
• Meanwhile, Hagino retakes command of the Blue as ship 3 attacks from orbit while ship 4 attacks from sea level. While the Blue defends itself, Hagino notices that another probe is headed towards the area where the school is and chases after it in her fighter.
• Back at school, Sugawara has caught up with Mari outside the school when the probe being piloted by Azanael arrives. Sugaware tells Mari that, yes, she’s there to observe her, but also to protect her, and then tries to take out the probe with a handgun she has on her, but the attempts are futile. The probe is about to fire on her when Hagino’s fighter attacks the probe, disabling it.
• During the battle, Tsubael fires the Blue’s guns at ship 4, damaging it and causing Master Commander Sebarill to order a retreat for both ships. The Blue then messages that they are declaring themselves an independent ship.
• While walking back to the school, Sugawara tells Mari that she’ll have to leave the school now that her status as an under-cover agent has been exposed. Meanwhile, Hagino arrests Azanael.

We’re had some action packed episodes for a while, but this is the first one with some real yuri-themed action, though none of it is necessarily serious at this point. In any case, with someone investigating the incident from 5 years go and with all these alien battles going on, I wouldn’t think it would take too long for the aliens to end up revealing themselves.

How the Master Commander acted after the latest attack failed didn’t seem to be one of concern, and perhaps even one of feeling she got the advantage. I’m wondering what that’s all about.
