It’s Episode 6, and now that Makoto and Sekai have done the deed, and Makoto finds Kotonoha boring, that means he’ll go straight over and break up with her and live happy ever after with Sekai, right? Right? Of course not! Where’s the fun in dumping a girlfriend you don’t care about when you’re cheating with another woman, when you’re just cheating with the other woman because she puts out, and you still want to get in your girlfriend’s pants because you like how big her kahoonas are, right?

The episode starts off by giving a pretty stark view of where Makoto and Sekai’s relationship stands: it looks like they basically get it on every night, to a large degree because Makoto pressures Sekai into it. Meanwhile, Sekai is still desperately trying to find an excuse to convince herself that she hasn’t gotten between Makoto and Kotonoha in their relationship (futily going back to the “practice” excuse which even she realizes isn’t true). Meanwhile, Makoto is leaving a clueless Kotonoha out in the cold.
Setsuna finds out about their relationship when Makoto, without thinking, mentions “making breakfast for two” while she’s standing there talking with Sekai. She asks Sekai if Makoto has already formally broken up with Kotonoha, and Sekai says that he has (but he hasn’t - remember this. I think it will be important to remember for episode 7).
Once in class, Sekai passes a note to Makoto saying that they should tell Kotonoha about the situation because she’s afraid that it will become a big mess, but Makoto vehemently disagrees because he’s afraid that Kotonoha will get angry. After class, Sekai tells Makoto again that she thinks they should tell Kotonoha about them, but Makoto just brushes off by saying that it’s “too soon” and that he’ll “tell her eventually.”
In the meantime, Kotonoha goes out to buy things to knit something (ooh! yarn! knitting needles! Potential weapons for future use!). On the way home on the train, as the train is passing by a station, she sees Sekai and Makoto as they’re about to kiss. She tries to brush it off as her seeing things, but she does start to doubt things.
One day, Sekai sees that Kotonoha has text messaged Makoto to see if he will go home with her. Makoto is about to refuse but Sekai says that Kotonoha is his girlfriend, so he should go home with her. On the way, Makoto acts very coldly towards Kotonoha, such as blowing off her wanting to buy a cell phone plan for couples, and just standing there when she trips and falls.
The next day in Kotonoha’s class, Otome’s friends try to get out of her who she likes. Eventually they deduce that it’s Makoto that she likes, but upon hearing this, Kotonoha asserts that she’s going out with Makoto. However, Otome and her group don’t take kindly to Kotonoha telling them off.
Just before lunch, Kotonoha text messages Makoto saying she’ll be busy during lunch. Makoto forwards the message to Sekai, and they decide to go to the roof to, er, have dessert during that time period. However, Kotonoha gets out of doing cultural festival committee work over lunch and heads to the roof to meet up with Makoto. However, just as she gets to the door, she hears Sekai confess to Makoto (with her clothes half off) and then watch through the window in the door as the two start making out.

Was it just me, or did this episode spend a good amount of time featuring air time for potential weapons to do harm against…someone? Both yarn and knitting needles could be used in rather gruesome ways against another person. Makoto just better hope that he isn’t the one who needs stitching back together once this series is over.
I’m not totally sure why Makoto doesn’t just break up with Kotonoha. He says it’s because she’ll be mad, but Sekai points out that she’s going to be mad regardless. I still think he wants to still get in her pants, and doesn’t want to close off that avenue of opportunity just yet, but it’s clear that he perfers Sekai, though their relationship basically consists of having sex every hour that they’re not at school, work, or sleeping, largely due to Makoto’s pressure to do so.
My feelings for Makoto are pretty clear, and I’ve stated them before: he’s a jackass and he’s thisclose from getting what is coming to him. Whether that means he’ll be left alone, or worse, we have yet to see, but the series keeps teasing us that one of the bloody endings is coming.
My feelings for Kotonoha are pretty clear at this point too: I rather feel sorry for her. She’s become more assertive and forthcoming when it comes to Makoto, but he isn’t even giving her a chance anymore. How will she takes finding out that he’s cheating on her?
My feelings for Sekai are mixed, however. It’s clear she likes Makoto, and she clearly sees the situation of Makoto technically remaining Kotonoha’s boyfriend as problematic and undesireable, and says as much to Makoto, but she still basically allows Makoto to take advantage of her feelings for his own gain, and probably isn’t forceful enough in demanding Makoto break things off with Kotonoha.
I still think that Kotonoha will ultimately try to get Makoto back by letting him sleep with her. I’m sure Makoto will take the bait to sleep with her, but will it be enough to actually get him back with her? If she’s willing to put out at the rate Sekai has been, it probably will be, and at that rate, Sekai essentially has nothing left with which she can get Makoto back. And we still have Makoto’s childhood friend and Kotonoha’s classmate Otome who has made her intentions known of wanting to go after him. She may be able to mess the situation up a bit more, but I just don’t see her being able to hook up with him, unless she just offers herself or tricks him into doing it.
In anycase, it should be a very interesting second half to this series.
