It’s episode 17 and we learn that Chikage’s curiosity, when put together with a magical book, are a bad combination and it’s up to Ikuto, Suzu, and Ayane to fix everything. Also, we learn something more about Tohno.

This episode starts with Chikage finding a black magic book in her very messy room. Of course, Chikage being the curious one, she decides to take her new play thing out for a spin. The next morning, Ikuto wakes up finding Suzu decked out with a cat’s ears and tails (so this is going to be fetish week huh?), himself wearing dog ears and a tail, and Tonkatsu looking like a real pig. Meanwhile, the chicken family living next door have turned into humans.
On the way to town, they run into Kuma-Kuma and Yukino, except Kuma-Kuma is a human and Yukino is a bear. Next it’s on to Mei-Mei and Tohno’s house where they find Mei-Mei to be a monkey and Tohno to be a really hot looking female (who happens to be naked, much to the displeasure of Ikuto’s nose). However, they also notice while at Mei-Mei’s house that neither Yukino and Kuma-Kuma nor Mei-Mei and Tohno noticed they had changed.
On their way to town, Suzu and Ikuto see Rin as a puppy, Mikoto as a squirrel, with their workers now having transformed into manly men, as well as a blond woman who they’re not sure who it is. Finally they run into Chikage who is….normal. Chikage knows of the transformation, and wonders if living outside the village is why Ikuto and Suzu aren’t fully transformed. Suzu suddenly realizes that Chikage must be the one responsible for everyone changing.
Chikage confirms this and says that she has been reborn as the island’s sorcerus. Ikuto doesn’t believe her, so Chikage decides to prove she can do magic. At first she tries to pull a Pigeon out of her hat, and ends up pulling out Monjiro (who is still on ostrich). Next she tries to pull out a bunny. At first ears show up, so she tries to pull it out, but ends up pulling out….Ayane with rabbit ears. Chikage wonders why the magic didn’t have the full effect on them, since they do live in the village. Ayane informs her that Machi and she were in the southern forest that night, and she deflected most of the magic by throwing Machi in the way (who has now turned into a flying squirrel).
Ayane tries to attack Chikage but she uses magic to teleport into a tree, then flies away on a broom. This finally causes Ikuto to have a breakdown, saying that magic can’t exist and people can’t fly, and so on. Suzu, Ayane, and Ikuto then raid Chikage’s room, looking for answers. Ikuto finds a dusty old black book, but accidentally drops it, which opens and causes a genie to appear, who says he will grant 7 wishes. Quickly, Suzu and Ayane wish for 4 pointless wishes, leaving three.
Realizing that they’re running out of time, Suzu wishes for Chikage to be captured, and the genie obliges. Suzu, Ayane, and Ikuto confronts Chikage, but then realizing that the genie is there too, Chikage wishes for the genie to save her, which he does promptly by getting rid of her bindings. This leaves only one wish left. Everyone starts fighting over what wish to ask for when Machi shows up and asks for a cup of tea, and the genie gladly accepts, using the last wish.
Chikage decides to continue her experiment, magically putting everyone into boxes. Chikage then decides to try cutting Ikuto’s box in two. As she starts cutting, Panako shows up and is….the blond haired girl. Panako, enraged at Chikage for not cleaning up her room, dispatches of her before Chikage can use magic. Chikage’s attack also destroys the magic book, which breaks the spell that Chikage put on everyone.
Back at Suzu’s place, Ayane and Suzu talk about what a day it’s been. Ikuto finally wakes up and then declares that it must have all been a dream.

This is kind of another filler episode, since I’m not really sure the plot is advanced in any way. I would have already assumed that something like this would have happened if Chikage got hold of a magic book, so it’s not like I learned that.
I guess this episode is still useful for two reasons: first, it’s funny to imagine what all the animals would look like if they were human, and what animals the humans would turn into, and second, we see Suzu show some real jealousy for the first time I can remember.
It’d been nice to followup the last episode with something better than this, but this one was still entertaining.
