It’s episode 4, and in this episode we finally get clarification: Makoto is not just a bumbling moron, but he’s a dirty jackass as well. Of course, this just makes the series even more intriguing as the more Makoto deserves to be beaten to a bloody pulp, the more likelihood that such an ending may be possible. Some people were worried that this series would turn into a run of the mill harem series. I think we can discount that now.
In any case, in this episode, Makoto continues to be aggressive with pushing his relationship with Kotonoha, and she, not surprisingly, resists. In response. Sekai decides to give Makoto “special lessons,” something which rarely has good results in the end.

Last episode ended with Makoto professing frustration to Sekai about how slow his relationship with Kotonoha is progressing, and episode 4 basically picks up immediately from that point. Sekai laments that the expectations of the relationship (read: what he wants to do) isn’t clear between he and Kotonoha. Sekai keeps asking him what happened to make him so bumbed out, but he doesn’t respond.
Later we see Makoto and Kotonoha making out on the roof. This time Makoto tries advancing the relationship by grabbing her boob, but Kotonoha resists. Makoto complains that Kotonoha said she’d “work hard” at being less shy, but Kotonoha still refuses. Makoto apologizes, but his face gives his true feelings away (ie, he’s pissed).
That night, Kotonoha calls Sekai to tell her what happened, and Sekai tells her that he’ll talk to Makoto about it the next day. Kotonoha laments that she’s too shy to fulfill what Makoto wants, but Sekai tells her that she should go at her own pace. Sekai then asks what types of places might put Kotonoha into a romantic mood, and Kotonoha goes over a bunch of not-so-realistic things like gentlemen riding white horses and trips to Europe. Meanwhile, Makoto is at home, sitting next to a trashcan filled with tissues and a tired right hand.
On the train the next day, Kotonoha tries to invite Makoto to swimming (with Makoto looking at her chest the whole time), but the train suddenly rocks, and Makoto’s hand lands on Kotonoha’s breast again, this time by accident. Kotonoha is the one who apologizes, but Makoto just looks away and laments that she doesn’t like to be touched.
Later that day, Sekai makes a comment to Makoto about not trying to go too fast, and Makoto snaps at her. Sekai pulls Makoto out into the hall to ask him what’s wrong and Makoto complains about Kotonoha not being willing to get more physical with him. Sekai says that his approach may be bad, and that trying to grope Kotonoha on the roof probably wasn’t a good idea. Makoto comments that Kotonoha’s house has Kokoro, while she probably wouldn’t be comfortable at his place.
Then Sekai says that she’ll help Makoto with “special training.” Makoto asks what Sekai means by “special training,” exactly, and she just says it’s training to deal with a girl’s feelings. Sekai tries to find places to conduct the “special training.” First, she takes Makoto to a park, but is found out by a group of kids before they can start anything. Next Sekai takes Makoto to a karaoke bar, but Makoto notices that the booth has cameras in it. Finally, Sekai decides that the most private place would be the school’s roof.
So, now the special training begins, which quickly advances to Sekai letting Makoto rub her breast. At first, Makoto doesn’t say anything and Sekai asks Makoto if he was thinking that her breasts weren’t as big as Kotonoha, and Makoto affirms that he thought that.
Makoto rubs for a while, then suddenly stops and says that he wants to sleep with Sekai, then pushes her down against the bench they’re sitting on. Sekai resists for a bit then stops and then gives in and says that he can keep going. However, before Makoto can get anywhere, his cell phone rings due to him getting a text message from Kotonoha.
Next we see Sekai and Makoto separating in front of the school. Makoto asks if they can continue the training, but Sekai declines. Soon, Makoto runs into Kotonoha, and she finally asks him if he wants to go to the pool.

Sorry about the lengthy write-up this week, but the story really moved quite a bit in this episode. First off, we see that Makoto keeps pushing his relationship with Kotonoha, despite knowing better. I think we can probably say that he’s trying to push it on purpose now, and trying to pressure Kotonoha into going with it. However, the kicker for Makoto is the fact that he was basically about to rape Sekai.
Yes, he did stop, and yes Sekai verbally said he could go on after that, but that was more her giving up than actually wanting to do it. Only Kotonoha’s text message stopped things. (and yes, I think things stopped there. Some people who have reviewed this episode have said they think they had sex, but I don’t think so. Both the text message interrupting them and Makoto asking to resume the special training the next day suggested that things stopped there).
Finally with Makoto, this episode was basically a bitch fest for him, with him either verbally complaining about Kotonoha’s slowness to do what he wants, or clearly showing that he was frustrated with the progress of his relationship.
Next up is Sekai, who is the one who got Kotonoha and Makoto together and, instead of directly throwing her hat in the ring, is trying to get with Makoto via the “special training.” However, it does seem that Makoto spooked her by trying to force her, and refused to offer any more “training” after that, so she may need to go a more direct route if she wants to get with Makoto from this point on.
Finally, there is Kotonoha, who is clearly the most innocent party in this matter. Clearly, Makoto shouldn’t go any faster than she’s comfortable with. However, from another perspective, her expectations of what a relationship should be are so astronomically high that it would be next to impossible for any boy, much less Makoto, to meet them, and that would frustrate any boy eventually, though Makoto is trying to push things more than he should be.
In any case, we’ve established several possible actions in the future now: Makoto has clearly shown a willingness to use force if he gets frustrated enough, and given his increasing frustrations with Kotonoha, it’s possible he could try to physically force her to submit to him (read: rape her). However, Kotonoha clearly is feeling pressured to go along with Makoto, but she just hasn’t been able to do it thus far. If she feels the heat for much longer, she may feel compelled to go along with Makoto, whether she’s ready or not. Finally, Makoto may try going after Sekai some now that he’s seen that she’s basically willing to put out for him.
Things have gotten really messy, and I’m sure they’re going to get messier yet.
