If there was ever a post deserving of putting into the “General Blather” category, this would probably be it. Probably no one cares, but I’ll ask about this anyway.
During the two weeks I’ve had google analytics, I see that a large portion (see something like 90%) visit my site with 1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher. Just out habit, I designed this page to fit 800 x 600, so it may be looking a little small on most of your browsers (though it’s still not bad on a 1024 x 768).
In any case, this is making me wonder if I should redesign to make it 1024 x 768. I’m not thinking a major redesign, just making it wider. My main issue with this are the header images, though. It was hard enough finding pictures that would work at 800 pixels. It’s going to be even harder to find ones that’ll work at 1000 pixels, so if I do redesign, several of my themes may go away until I can find suitable images to work. Some of the more “cut out the characters and plop them on a background” themes I’ve thought of redoing anyway, so maybe that’ll give me a chance to do that.
I’m just wondering if people like wider sites better I guess. It would give me room to do rows of 3 images instead of 2 when I do episode reviews, though I’m not sure how much that matters either.
Also, I’ve been thinking of making a logo (especially if I ever decide to make something like business cards or something - why I ever would I don’t know, but you know). I probably wouldn’t put it on the banner. I may put it in the sidebar or something. In any case, I threw something together today and I wondered what people thought of it:
