It’s episode 3 of School Days. This week is a note-passing free episode as once again Kotonoha’s shyness and Makoto’s aggressiveness slam against each other head on. Also, Sekai’s friends keep harassing her about her “cheating” “boyfriend.” Finally, we confirm that it is standard procedure that, unless at school, all females must talk on their cellphones wearing no more than a shirt and panties.

This episode begins with Makoto calling Kotonoha’s house, and getting her little sister, Kokoro, who is of course thrilled that she is talking to her older sister’s boyfriend. Later, Kotonoha called Makoto back, but is distressed that Makoto will call her sister by her first name, but still calls her by her last name - Katsura.
At lunch the next day, Kotonoha says that Kokoro wants to meet Makoto. In response, Makoto excitedly asks if that means he can go over to their house, and Sekai warns him that he’s going too fast again, but Kotonoha says she doesn’t mind and Makoto asks Sekai to stop butting in when things are actually going well.
On the train home that day, Makoto hugs Kotonoha, but Kotonoha freaks out, and runs off the train at her stop. Meanwhile, one of Sekai’s friend sees then and text messages Sekai that her boyfriend is fooling around, to which Sekai messages back in frustration that he’s not her boyfriend. Sekai then calls Makoto and berates him for not considering the location and atmosphere when starting to get physical with Kotonoha. Makoto doesn’t really get it, wondering why it matters since they’re dating.
The next day, Kotonoha rides the bus to school to avoid Makoto, so he has to wait until lunch to apologize to her. After doing so, Makoto asks if he can meet Kokoro that day. Kotonoha says it’s too soon, but says that the coming Sunday might work. Meanwhile, Sekai’s friends keep bugging her about her “boyfriend” cheating on her, despite her claims that she isn’t dating Makoto. Setsuna even visits Sekai’s work to ask her alone if she and Makoto are dating.
That Sunday, Makoto visits Kotonoha’s house and gets to play around (in a [mostly] non-dirty way!) with Kotonoha and Kokoro. However, near the end of the day, Kokoro asks Makoto why he only calls Kotonoha “Katsura.” This question seems to stump Sekai, especially when Kotonoha turns her back on him when he can’t answer.
Afterwards, Makoto asks if calling her by her first name is important. Kotonoha explains that it is and retreats quickly, not meaning to be so assertive. Makoto decides to start calling Kotonoha by her first name after that, and Kotonoha follows suit (she’d been calling Makoto Itou-kun up until this point as well). Finally, back at home, Makoto and Sekai are talking on the phone about the day and Makoto remarks to Sekai that being with Kotonoha…is tiring…

Makoto and Kotonoha finally become a “real couple” in this episode to an extent, as they finally move to using first names. However, we also get a look at the teasing Kotonoha gets in her class, and the first real signs of impatience with Makoto with how slow things are progressing with Kotonoha. We also establish that Sekai seems to get along so well with Makoto that even Sekai’s friends think they’re dating.
The series could go any number of directions from this point, so we’ll just have to see where it goes.
