Nagasarete Airantou Episode 14 sees the introduction of two new characters - including one new girl - after they themselves were washed upon the island. However, both of the islands new residents are both rather unusual. Also, we have a new ending this week (see the post with captures of the new ending tomorrow).

To start off the episode, a burglar is going around stealing food from everyone. Since rice balls were stolen from Ayane and Machi’s place the previous night, and Machi shows up to a group meeting on the matter which rice still on her face, on top of the fact that the group finds her swiping food from various places such as spirit statue offerings and Kuma-Kuma’s honey jar, they suspect her as the culprit. This doesn’t make Machi very happy, and she goes off to investigate who the real culprit is, and everyone else decides to follow suit.
After investigating, Ikuto sees a trend in where the burglar has been striking, and predicts the next two houses that will be hit. The group splits up in order to stake out the two houses. Both houses are hit that night, but neither group is able to successfully apprehend the burglar. The next morning, a worn out Ikuto and Suzu walk back home, only to find that the burglar has struck there as well. Ikuto hears someone in the bath and goes to investigate. However, once there he finds a girl taking a bath, and prompty collapses due to a nosebleed. Meanwhile, the girl in the bath also faints from the sight of Ikuto’s blood.
Once both recover, we find that the girl in the bath is a girl we’ve never seen before, and who Suzu doesn’t know - Mai-Mai. Mai-Mai tells them that she was swept to the island after a storm while she was at sea. However, she’s very shy, and while she’s been meaning to ask the people on the island for food, she’s chickened out and just taken it. However, when confronted with all the missing food, she says she didn’t do all of it, and wonders if it’s her friend, Tona, who she lost track of during the storm at sea.
The trio starts walking towards the village when they see Machi coming towards them. Suzu and Ikuto tell Mei-Mei to hide due to Machi’s determination to strike vengeance against whoever made her the scapegoat. Soon, Rin comes and says that Chikage’s cucumber field has been raided. From there, Ikuto and Suzu run into Mei-Mei again. The rest of the group, meanwhile, has caught onto the trial of the other burglar and finally run into him at a river, and the other burglar happens to be…a kappa.
Machi tries to take out her vengeance on him and Mei-Mei, who pops out from hiding after seeing her friend, but Ikuto stops her, but when she sticks her hand out to shake hands in forgiveness, Tona the Kappa decides to chomp on it, beginning a fierce battle between him and Machi.

This was actually a pretty humerous episodes, I thought, one of the better one of the series, and addes yet another girl to Ikuto’s harem. The fact that Mei-Mei appears to faint due to seeing blood may make for some entertaining times with Ikuto when paired with his passing out due to bloodloss whenever he gets a nosebleed when seeing girls naked.
Overall, this series is still plodding along as a mediocre series, neither all that great or all that bad. However, I’d note that we haven’t had much development of Suzu and Ikuto’s relationship in a couple of episodes, and the idea of the four lords of the island, the lord of the sea, and lord of the entire island appears to have been completely forgotten for at least a half-dozen episodes or so it seems.
I’d expect a follow-up episode on Mei-Mei next week, but after that we’ll see where the series goes in it’s final 10 episodes or so.
