Episode 12 is all about Machi - and her trying to learn how to cook so that she may become a proper bride. Ayane is the one who pushes her into learning (because she’s tired of doing all the cooking), though she may come to regret doing that (as is usually the case with anything that Ayane tries to do with Machi).

Episode 12 begins as Ayane complains to Machi about her never doing housework or cooking. Machi says it’s ok because she knows sorcery and has shikigami. Ayane reminds her that cooking is part of the training to become a wife, and without it, she’ll always be “too old to marry.” This causes Machi to decide to go out and learn how to cook.
Her first stop is Chikage, who tries to teach Machi how to cook without the aid of her maid Panako’s help. Unforutnately, Chikage has never cooked by herself either and makes a complete mess, triggering the wrath of Panako. Machi decides to go to Rin’s place next. We don’t really see all that goes on with her training there…
Suddenly Machi invites Ayane, Suzu, and Ikuto for dinner that night. They all agree to go to see how well Machi’s cooking has progressed. Along the way, they run into Rin who warns them not to eat her cooking then collapses. The three decide that they’d rather not go see Machi anymore, but her shikigami arrive and carry them off to Machi’s house.
Once there, the trio must wait in horror as they hear the sounds of Machi cooking, which sounds more like some butcher house. Finally Machi comes out with her meal, and it looks anything but appetizing. Finally, Ikuto relents and takes a bite and…is shocked to find that it actually tastes good!
Ikuto promises to eat it all, which ended up being a pretty bad promise as Machi continues to make more and more food until Ikuto is about to explode.

Well, Machi fans should be happy with this episode as it centers around her and her quest to become a good cook, presumably to increase her chances of luring Ikuto to her side.
This was, again, a reasonably funny episode. Not bust-your-gut funny, but still rather humerous as just about everyone Machi interacts with meets one sort of doom or the another. I’m surprised the residents of the islands put up with Machi as much as they do given what usually happens to them if they interact with her at all. Though it should be noted that even Suzu is afraid of what Machi can do in the end too.
