I know when I started my podcast that I was thinking about moving this website to it’s own domain, which could also host my podcast files. At first I wanted to keep everything together, but I didn’t really find any hosts that I thought were reputable enough, gave enough space that I wanted, and fit within my budget (while I do have a donation page, I want to keep this website ad free).
Thus I signed up for GoDaddy’s Podcasting service, and put that under the Josh’s Anime Blog domain. That service wasn’t really as good as I thought it was going to be, but it served it’s purpose.
In the six months since that move, I have since found a web host that both looks like it has a lot of space (40 gigs or 60 gigs, depending on the plan), is inexpensive, and appears to be reputable based on everything I’ve researched about it.
As a result, if all goes well, this website will be moving to www.joshsanimeblog.com possibly even by the end of the month. Moving there will allow me to do several things:
1) upload a higher quality version of the podcast. Right now I’m saving it at 96kbs. I’ll have enough room to save it as 192kbs if I want to. I’ve also considered making both versions available.
2) I’ll be able to upload high quality pictures. As some people who read my Nagasarete Airantou reviews may be noticed that some of my images aren’t, well, high quality. I’ll probably keep images that quality for the rest of that series, just for consistency’s sake, but with series I may track after that, I should be able to do high-res images
And of course this would unify things under one website, which was my original hope as well. Plus I’ll hopefully get better podcasting stats as a result.
In the first movie to grace this section, this week I write about Whisper of the Heart. Another Ghibli film (albeit, not a Miyazaki one, though he did work on it), this is a story about a girl who loves reading and writing - so much so that it causes her school work to suffer, much to the chagrin of her parents. Soon she meets a boy who happens to be the same boy who had checked out many of the same library books that the girl has checked out at well, and follows the progression of their relationship.
