This week, Ikuto and Suzu visit Chikage for some, um, research, and not necessarily the type that Ikuto is necessarily looking forward to…

This episode starts off with Suzu and Ikuto walking to Chikage’s house due to Chikage wanting to show him something. Once Ikuto gets to her house, he discovers that it’s a fairly large Western-style mansion (ok, how does Chikage get away with living in a mansion and Suzu in a little shack?)
Ikuto knocks on the door and a fairly cute sounding voice answers that she’s coming. Suzu just tells Ikuto that it’s Panako, Chikage’s maid. However, who answers the door (by wapping Ikuto with it and slamming him into the side of the building) is a pink elephant.
Once Ikuto is “safely” inside, Suzu explains that Panako is a kind animal, and most everyone considers her to be the most beautiful girl on the island (which Ikuto obviously finds to be personally, well, not right). Ikuto also discovers that Panako has a bad strength-control problem as she pumbles him accidentally.
Finally Chikage finally shows up…only wearing an apron. Ikuto tries to hold out, but it is of no use as his nosebleeds cometh. Chikage follows this by coming out wearing various costumes, finishing up with the maid costume. Finally Ikuto breaks down and asks why Chikage is wearing those clothes, to which she responds that that’s how people dress up according to men’s magazines that have washed up on the island.
Chikage then brings Suzu and Ikuto down into her basement, hoping that Ikuto can identify other things that have washed up onto the island. There she shows him an electric rice cooker and microwave. Ikuto explains what they do, to Chikage and Suzu’s amazement, but of course they can’t use them because there is no electricity on the island. She then wants Ikuto to identify all sorts of other things, to which Ikuto just says that most of it is garbage.
Ikuto and Suzu then say that it’s about time to go home, but Chikage invites them to stay over for the night, saying she’s already cooking dinner and, after Suzu still seems unsure, mentions that she has Mame-Daifuku (which immediately convinces Suzu to stay).
Chikage then attempts to create various modern dishes from cookbooks that have washed to the island. First there is the “hamburger” which consists of a block of tofu and a leaf of spinach between two rice crackers. Then there is the ramen made with udon and with god-knows-what in it. Then there is the takoyaki - a very large one - with a live octopus still in it. Finally Ikuto asks for regular curry rice, which he finally finds delicious, but which causes Suzu to erupt into a volcano.
After they’re finished eating, Suzu suggests that they get back home. When Chikage fails to convince them to stay, she decides to take matters into her own hands..er..tenticle as she slaps the live-octopus-in-the-takoyaki, causing it to spray ink all over Ikuto and Suzu. Now they have to stay to take a bath!
Ikuto still refuses to take a bath with Suzu or Chikage, so he decides to wait until after they’re done. While in the bath, Chikage suddenly mentions that she is also curious about Suzu’s “ever growing breasts” as they have become some of the biggest on the island.
Finally it’s Ikuto’s turn in the bath and Chikage hides in the bushes and hides in the tub to try to “observe” him. Panako then walks into the bath and asks if he wants her to wash his back, to which he agrees (ok, I’d personally find a talking pink female elepahant washing my back a little disturbing, but to each their own I guess). Chikage takes this back-washing activity as a chance to further observe Ikuto.
Ikuto invites Panako into the tub to “warm herself”, to which Panako responds by jumping into the tub - directly on top of Chikage.
Finally, when Suzu and Ikuto get to bed, Suzu is mad at Ikuto for refusing to bathe with her but being ok with Panako. Ikuto tries to explain that it’s because Panako is an animal, but Suzu says she won’t forgive Ikuto until he bathes with her (to which if Ikuto was a normal human male, he would be elated with, but he’s not, so he isn’t)

We finally get a Chikage episode this week, which finally rounds out all the introductory episodes for all of the major characters. This is a fairly fan-service filled episode given that Chikage is trying to “study” Ikuto. I’d say that this series is still mediocre - neither good nor bad - but it’s still lacking direction I think. This was a pretty funny episode overall, especially with Panako continually messing things up and Chikage’s interpretation of modern recipes.
