Bandai Visual Panel

ANN now has up the report from the Bandai Visual panel.

BV mostly discussed the upcoming Gunbuster vs. Diebuster movie as several titles that they are going to be releasing in HD. As far as licensing, again I’m not sure this is 100% for certain new, but they did announced that they had acquired the Super Robot Wars OVA and TV series. They also licensed Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079.

Viz and Seven Seas at AX

Anime ExpoANN has their page up for the Viz and Seven Seas panels today at Anime Expo.

Viz’s panel basically went over what they plan to release over the rest of the year, with anything new being re-releases or titles that had already been announced. I didn’t see any new titles that were just being announced at the panel in the report.

For the Seven Seas panel, it was partly an informational session just telling people who they were and some of the titles they are going to be releasing. As for new licenses, there were two titles which I haven’t found evidence of having previously been announced: First Love Sisters and Voiceful.

Bandai Visual and Broccoli still have panel reports to come today.

Anime Blogging in the future

Assuming there are no breaks in the airing of Nagasarete Airantou (which can happen. Seto no Hanayome took a week off this past week), it should finish airing September 26th.

The next project I’ll be taking on is School Days which, from what I’ve seen online, is a 13 episode series with an expected 3-OVA followup (or something). This series, again if there are no breaks, should air between July 3 - September 25th.

The project after that which I’ll start on will be Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 2. Assuming this series is aired like the first one, it will air as 2 pairs of 8 half-episodes, once every 2 months (the first double-digit Saturday date). That means it would air August 11th, October 13th, December 15th, and February 16, 2008 - but this is just an assumption.

After that, there are several projects I’m looking forward to. One is Clannad, which is another Key visual novel adaptation. If I can hack through the Japanese well enough, it looks like they’ll announce when this will start airing in August. Most likely it will be a late fall 2007 or winter 2008 start.

Another series I’m looking forward to covering is Shakugan no Shana II. Again, no definite airdate on this either, though ANN says October 2007.

I don’t see anything on the immediate horizon which I’m just really looking forward to seeing at this point, though a few other series may catch my eye between now and then.

Nagasarete Airantou - Episode 11

Starting with this episode, I’m going to try to cut down on how much I write per an episode. It takes too long, takes up too much space, and is just a pain to write. This with the fact that next week I’ll be starting my second anime blogging project, School Days, I just thought it was time to make a change. I had originally planned to keep writing the Nagasarete Airantou episodes the same just to be consistent…but I changed my mind.

In any case, we’re now up to episode 11. We’re quickly approaching the halfway point of the series (ANN says it’s slated for 26 episodes) and in this one Suzu gets a fever and we meet Yukino’s mother.

Lucky!
Or maybe not more massive blood loss

What I Want to See: 5 Centimeters Per Second

5 Centimeters Per secondThe recently-acquired-by-ADV series of short stories called 5 Centimeters Per Second is next on my list of what to see. By the same person who made The Place Promised in our Early Days (which I love) and Voices of a Distant Star (which I should get from Netflix today), 5 Centimeters Per Second may be best described by it’s subtitle: “A chain of short stories about their distance” and is about, perhaps not surprisingly, a series of stories about a pair of people separated by distance and how it impacts those characters.

Given that I liked Placed Promised and I’ll surprised if I don’t like Voices, it’s a shame this isn’t coming to DVD until December. ADV is screening it at Anime Expo, and hopefully they’ll give it the same treatment at Otakon.
