It’s another blood-bath episode (literally) as the hot springs system on the island breaks down and Ikuto and Suzu try to find out what the matter is. In the process, Ikuto once again loses his body’s volume worth of blood.

| Ikuto tries not to pop his cherry | Suzu hates earthquakes. So does Ikuto |
The episode starts off with an earthquake ominously shaking the well that sits on top of a tall earthen spire-like thing (think a mini-Devil’s Tower). At Suzu’s house, the water to her hot springs bath stops.
The following morning Ikuto is practicing Kendo outside. When Suzu asks why, he tells her that he has to train because it’s a man’s job to protect women. Of course, having lived her life on an island with absolutely no men on it all her life, Suzu has no clue what he’s talking about.
Ikuto is only too quickly reminded of his lack of ability when he helps Suzu carry giant cherries. While he can barely manage carrying one, Suzu can handily carry three.
All of a sudden, another earthquake strikes. This time the pipes that run from the well to the town break. Suzu, who we find hates earthquakes, runs around in a panic, dragging poor Ikuto with her.
Back at home, it’s Suzu’s turn to take a bath, and thinks to herself about how it would be great if Ikuto would bathe with her (he obviously is still refusing to do so).
Ikuto is still outside recovering from being flailed around by Suzu during the earthquake when he hears Suzu scream. He runs in to see what the problem is and discovers that – that bath has no water in it! And Suzu is naked. Nosebleed time!

Later in the evening, Rin places a large barrel in a shack in the town for people to take a bath in for the time being. Kuma-Kuma is enlisted with the work of brining water (from where?) and filling up the barrel while Ikuto chops up firewood that will be used to bring the bath to a nice boil heat up the bath for everyone to use.
Meanwhile, Machi and Ayane are sitting and just watching. Rin tells them to help out. Machi says she will by “wiping Ikuto’s body from head to toes.” When Ayane gets angry at her, Machi forces Ayane to agree to heating the water by beating a spike into her voodoo doll of Ayane.
When it’s Rin’s turn to take a bath, we find that her sisters Mikoto’s (see Episode 3) love for her may go a little bit beyond familial love, as she’s hiding out in the barrel to get a nice look (and who knows what else) of Rin minus clothes.
Next it’s Suzu’s turn, and it’s Ikuto’s turn to keep the barrel-o-water warm. Suzu calls for him, and when he looks up, he Sees Suzu with her upper-body leaning out of the water to talk to him. More nosebleeding goodness follows.

After everyone has their baths, the main characters have a talk about all the baths in town drying up. Ikuto suggests that it’s not so horrible since one doesn’t have to take a bath every day, to which all the girls respond with extreme scorn.
Once Ikuto is put back into his place, the girls continue to lament the lack of baths and the fact that they don’t have much time that week to fix it. Ikuto then comes up with a brilliant plan: he’ll fix the baths!
The next day, after a minor incident where Ikuto almost kills himself falling off the large spire-like thing while walking to reach the well and having to be rescued by Yukino’s bird, Taka-Taka. Finally at the well after Yukino drops him off there, Ikuto meets up with Rin and Suzu who have decided that they’re going to try to fix the well too.
When the group finally has a look at the well, they see that a clump of dirt is blocking the way. So, Ikuto and Suzu go into the well to unstuck it. However, another earthquake strikes, causing the clump to breakup causing Ikuto and Suzu to drop down into some underground caverns.

Suzu wonders if they can ever get out, since the hole they fell through filled up (again). However, a gust of wind blows past, proving that there must be an opening somewhere. When Suzu gets up and starts walking with Ikuto, however, we see that she’s hurt her leg and is limping. Ikuto decides to carry her instead of making her limp along (oddly, holding Suzu’s butt with his hands apparently doesn’t cause nosebleeds).
After walking little while, the two finally find an opening – a hole in the ceiling way above them – hardly something they can easily climb out of. However, Ikuto has a plan. He spots the real clog-up of the hot springs – a big rock in the middle of a shallow lake near the opening.

However, all of Ikuto’s beating on the rock appears to be making a Plesiosaur angry (what is this? The Lost World? Ok, yes it sorta is…)
Finally, Ikuto’s beating on the rock appears to have worked as it gives way and immediately hits Ikuto and Suzu with a tidal wave of water. Suzu almost gets dragged away by the currents (she can’t swim because of her bumb leg I guess) but Ikuto is able to save her.

Back at the well, Rin is about to jump in to save them, when a huge water geyser bursts out of the water behind her, carrying Ikuto and Suzu on top of it, and all is well in the world again.
Only one more thing to take care of: a nice warm PROPER hot springs bath for Ikuto to make all his injuries from the day feel fine. However, Ikuto decides to join him, but luckily is wearing a towel. Ikuto says that he prefers it that way. Suzu says that that’s ok, then promptly loses the towel. One final massive nosebleed ensues.

Even though it’s not stated right out, this episode we see the best evidence yet that Suzu sees Ikuto as something more than a friend, from always wanting to bathe with him, to being comforted by the idea that he’ll protect her, to getting jealous when Machi says that she’ll “clean him from head to toe.”
We also see our most obvious look at what will probably be the plot for at least one episode down the line – the lost dinosaur thing that’s hanging out on the island.
One thing that I’m amazed at by this series is how long it’s been able to ride the fence. For most series, one can tell by the sixth episode whether it’s going to be a pretty good or pretty bad series. So far Nagasarete Airantou has been able to ride the fence virtually all the way through.
I still don’t see it being a great series, but at least it seems to be different enough so far from other harem series that it won’t fall into a bottomless pit like so many other harem series do.
