Episode 2 begins with Suzu explaining to Ikuto exactly why the island has no male inhabitants. When males still lived on the island, every year they would all go out to sea and participate in a large fish catching tournament. Then, twelve years ago, a tsunami that only comes around every 100 years came and washed the ships away, along with all the island’s men.

| Ayane wants a sleepover with Ikuto too. | This is why Ikuto told Suzu to put on her clothes. |
After telling her story, Suzu decides it’s time to go to bed. Perhaps suffering the same syndrome that caused her to think nothing of taking a bath with Ikuto, she decides to place their futons right next to each other (immediately illiciting another, although smaller, noseblood from Ikuto). Suzu goes to clean up as Ikuto slides into his futon.
However, Ayane suddenly shows up and tries to kidnap Ikuto. Suzu, hearing Ikuto scream, runs out and catches her putting a large eggplant looking thing in Ikuto’s place in an attempt to fool Suzu. However, Suzu is only wearing her skirt and the cloth wrapped around her top. In response, Ikuto (who is now bound) begs, not for Suzu to save him, but for her to put on some friggen clothes!

Ayane and Suzu battle, resulting in Ikuto being stomped on a couple of times, as well as having his face land smack in the middle of Suzu’s rather large chest, illiciting a much larger nosebleed this time. Suzu finally dispatches Ayane by hitting her with the giant eggplant looking thing.
Their problems aren’t over with, however, since all the other girls on the island start surrounding the house, jealous that Suzu, and not they, get to spend the night with the only boy on the island. The island elder decides there is only one solution to the problem: The “Hide-and-Seek Tournament to Catch the Groom.”

| Girls Gone Wild | Bua haha. Not wanting to marry you doesn’t mean I don’t still want you… |
This tournament entails an all-day chase that lasts until sunset. The first girl to touch Ikuto gets to marry him (unless of course, as the island elder points out, he just wants to repopulate the island with ALL the women - Ikuto chooses the hide-and-seek method).
Ikuto starts off with the plan of just outrunning everyone until sunset and remaining free. However, never underestimate a woman competing over the only man on the island. Suzu does her best to help, Ikuto out, taking out a whole rampaging herd of females by throwing her pig Tonkatsu at them, hitting one in the head and causing the whole group to fall over each other and then having to take out Rin, who tries to swing town from a tree to touch Ikuto.
The next girl who tries to get her hands on Ikuto is Chikage who attempts to lure Ikuto away by saying that she’s not interested in marriage and that she’ll hide him. However, she has other plans and has set up a trap to catch Ikuto with so that she may study “this living thing called ‘man.’” Suzu also foils her by changing the trap, causing Chikage to get caught in her own trap.

| Maybe marrying Machi wouldn’t have been so bad after all… | |
Another swarm of girls immediately find Ikuto, however. Ikuto keeps running until he accidentally finds himself leaping over a river and, unable to make it all the way across, having to cling to the other side of a canyon. When he climbs to the top, he sees Machi waiting for him, willing to “give him a hand” to help him to the top, knowing that, of course, that giving him a hand makes Ikuto her groom. Ikuto, also knowing this, decides to take his chance in the river below.
Of course, what would be a ride in a river without having that river ending in a waterfall? Suzu jumps down the falls to save Ikuto, but just before she can reach him, Yukino and her giant bird Taka-Taka grab Ikuto away. However, once he sees he’s flying, his fear of heights kids in and he panics, and his trashing causes Taka-Taka to drop him. Only Tonkatsu turning into a balloon saves Ikuto. Unfortunately for him, however, he lands in the forbidden Eastern Forest.

| How Cute! | Ok, maybe not |
Ikuto soon finds out that the Eastern Forest is inhabited with a wide arrange of rather large carnivorous plants. Ikuto is able to battle them off, at least until they go away in the face of an even bigger menace: a giant, man-eating creature referred to as the King of the Eastern Forest! Which, once it steps into the sunlight, looks like a very big, yet happy and harmless panda bear.
Ikuto lets out a sigh of relief, muttering that it’s only a cute panda bear. Unfortunately for Ikuto, it takes great offense at being called “cute” and attempts to to slice Ikuto up with his very long and sharp claws. However, Suzu once again shows up to save the day and is able to flip the giant angry panda bear away. The bear comes back, however, and in attempting to protect Suzu, Ikuto gets tossed across the island.

| SuperSuzu! | How did we pick who won again? |
Meanwhile, Ayane, who had been knocked out when the island elder announced the hide-and-seek tournament, and had been stepped on more than once during the day by Suzu (as well as being shot with a dart by Machi, who is her older sister), finally reaches the town and sees the banner for the hide-and-seek tournament.
We then see that Ikuto has landed in a tree and is now surrounded by females. However, they get knocked out by a gas released by Ayane, who also shoots Ikuto with a dart. Suzu comes to save Ikuto again, but this time too late. Ikuto is on the ground, somewhat paralyzed by Ayane’s dart. Ayane meanwhile, has waited for Suzu’s arrival so she can “win” in front of Suzu (who she then shoots with a dart too).

| Ayane’s plan is set | Oops. |
Why does Ayane want to beat Suzu so bad? First off, Suzu apparently wins at everything while Ayane finishes last. But the worst thing to Ayane is: Suzu’s superior breast size (are we really all that surprised?). This display of jealously also results in one final fit of nosebleeding for Ikuto. He also takes this opportunity to try to escape.
He almost succeeds, but Ayane spots him before he can get away. Ayane leaps after him just as Ikuto jumps off the cliff. Or so Ayane thinks. Soon she sees that Ikuto found the eggplant looking thing and threw it off the cliff for Ayane to jump after. This appears to seal victory for Ikuto as the sun finally sets without any girl catching him.

| I Win! | You Lose! |
Unfortunately for Ikuto, he didn’t win. A girl did in fact touch him: Suzu (remember back when he saved her from the giant, angry panda bear?). Suzu thinks it over a bit, and then tells Ikuto: no thanks (isn’t it pretty bad to be given the boot when you’re the only guy on the island?). However, Suzu explains that if Ikuto gets married, it should be based on who he falls in love with and not a game. The village elder thinks that’s all good and swell, but Suzu’s decision ends up not resolving anything the hide-and-seek tournament was meant to determine: figuring out who would be with Ikuto so that all the girls wouldn’t be chasing after him all the time. Oops.

Overall, this episode explored several areas of the island and revealed a few more of it’s creatures and was rather funny, though the girls-chasing-guy humor will probably get old pretty soon without some ideas of how to do it differently.
I might have written this last week, but this series is teetering on that edge of just being a boring old fan service filled harem series and a series that may actually be worthy of watching. The next couple of episodes will probably give a better idea of which way the series decides to go.
